Staples :o(

Well, we made it 6 years without injuries requiring stitches. Last night little Jackson got 2 staples in his head. I have to say that I've been dreading the day that one of my kids come to me in a bloody mess - I really didn't think I'd be able to stomach it. So, I had just finished changing his stinky diaper and I put him in his crib (to keep him out of the kitchen since dinner was on the stove) while I took his diaper outside. I said to Joseph, "keep your eye on Jackson, I'm just going to run this outside." Well, the next thing I hear is SCREAMING and Joseph comes running out - "he's bleeding! there's blood!" I come in to see Jackson crawling out of his room with blood everywhere! It was running all down his face, his head was covered, his hands covered I could barely see his eyes. I grabbed him and ran to the bathroom to see what had happened. It's amazing how the head bleeds - everyone had always warned me about it - but DANG! Anyway, to make a long story short - he's fine - just has some lovely staples to show off. Poor little Jackson. It's amazing how quickly things happen. He's never tried to climb out of his crib before... It's hard not to beat yourself up. Here I thought I was doing so great for thinking ahead of what could happen if he got near the hot stove... Instead he tried to climb out of his crib for the first time ever and hits his head. Ugh.

Well . . . on the positive side he probably won't do that again. Although testing that theory begs a whole new set of issues. I'm so sorry! Really nothing you do can prevent everything that can happen in childhood. We just do the best we can to help them survive til they move out! Which that time can take it's own sweet time getting here.

I hope Jackson is feeling better today. That is a shock the first time, I'm sure. But, he's a boy, get ready as he grows up!!! ;-)

How is everyone else?
