I know, I know, to most of you this is not some kind of spectacular feat. But for me... this is HUGE! It has been a long time coming... all my health issues over the years and especially my heart issues which have defeated my attempts at any and all types of exercise for the past 10 years. Well, in January as everyone was setting their new years resolutions... I set mine. I decided I was going to do this for myself. It was my time. So, with my dear friend Betsy, I am on a quest to conquer a half marathon in September. John called a few connections and set me up with the most awesome trainers ever. (We've learned over the years that husband and wife mixing trainer/trainee just really doesn't work for us! Ü hahaha!) So, here I am, 3 1/2 months later, 17 lbs lighter, running my first 5k. And - no heart problems! Not once have I passed out! It's a miracle!!! Seriously! I'm so happy!!!
Saturday, amidst the 31 degree temperature, rain/snow mix falling down, I did it! And as I neared the finish line and saw my wonderful husband, beautiful kids (all 3 crammed in our jogging stroller trying to stay warm- poor things!), my mom and my brother - I got so choked up I could barely breathe!
This is just the beginning for me....

congrats!!! YAY YOU! :) You were the first thing I thought of that morning as I looked out my window at 3 inches of snow. Looks like it was not bad there though...phew! You rock!
YEAH FOR YOU!!! Way to go Michelle, that is SO awesome! And I can totally see you tearing up as you neared the finish line! haha. That is so exciting! And I never wish to do a half marathon in my life...so I have admiration for you and your insaneness!
And I'm pretty sure that your trainer is so awesome because he grew up next to me. Not totally sure...but I'm just saying, it's a possibility!
You are the coolest. I am so proud of you! What a huge accomplishment! I sure don't have it in me to do such a thing. You're an amazing woman!!

Good for you Michelle! Way to preserver through the rain and all. I've been telling myself I need to start doing something for my health. I miss the confidence it brings when you can run and feel good.
