First Day of School 2008

What is it about that big yellow bus that when seeing your little boy get on for the very first time just makes you feel like it's the end of an era? I had really no worries about seeing my little boy head off to first grade - he's been going to school or daycare for years, so it's not like it was this big "stepping out into the 'real world'" experience for us. But, there's just something about him getting onto that bus and finding his seat - "who will he sit with?", "will the other kids be nice?", "will he be nice?", I was sooo worried about the whole thing. Joseph? excited as can be!! I kept asking him, "what's your bus #?" He would tell me without hesitation... Finally he assured me that he was good at memorizing and he wouldn't forget. Of course you are.... silly Mommy.

Anyway, Joseph had a great first day of school. He loves his new school, he's not sure about the whole "school lunch" thing, but he's a big fan of the bus and he's sure to make some new friends. He said everyone is nice at his new school except for one girl - but he didn't know her name. She was "cranky". (girls and hormones... poor thing...) ha ha!

Anyway, I can't belive my boy is in first grade. My heart melts and my eyes tear up when I think about him today. I wonder what he's doing right now....

How cute! I love that kids out here get to go to school with kids in their ward. At least he'll have a good handful of kids that will be nice and helpful.
